So it began last Christmas when two little puddings turned up at the Tatty Devine Christmas Party. The lovely Victoria Woodcock spied us (with her mince pies) and asked if the cape would like to feature in a new publication she was working on, State of Craft. The pattern I created for the pudding cape has now made its way into the soopa doopa crafty book, soon to be released next month. So this is just a little teaser for now......

Noooo it's not another post about a guy who makes perfume out of shit. It's Gareth Pugh stupid. AND Ruth Hogben sneaks in at the end which doubles the watchability ten fold (I heard the Americans using this term and wanted to join in). It's deffers worth black and white-tastic clean lines watch. I imagine Ruth Hogben's kitchen is really tidy.

matryoshka preview

Here's a little peak at the Matryoshka film. It was filmed a while back now but I want to re-edit it so here's just a snippet, I like the editing that has been on this piece mostly so I thought it was about time I let everyone who worked on the project get a quick look! Thanks again to everyone involved, will put credits up when film is finished.

The idea came from a lecture by Caryn Franklin on the All Walks Beyond the Catwalk project ealier this year. I'd been wanting to work with plus sizes for a while now and this was the perfect opportunity. Even though All Walks works with changing a number of aspects within the modelling world (race, age, size), I wanted to concentrate on the sizing aspect.

I decided to use Russian dolls as a basis as there's the obvious different size factor involved with them and after going through research it transpired the plus size buyer would rather shop in the same shops as the average high street and designer sizes shop, rather than having plus size stores or designated areas within a store.

After researching at LFW's trade show I found that barely any of the designers there catered for over a size 14 so it seemed like anyone who was over a size 14 didn't exist. Which is the idea behind the film, showing models of different sizes crash landed from a planet where different sizes actually exist. Who'd have thought it! I was shocked with the findings at LFW, that none of the up and coming designers were even attempting to design for a diverse amount of women's bodies but just that off the naughties traditional long thin silhouette. I believe Caryn said that when Dove included a range of sizes and ages within their campaigns that their profits rose by 300%!! So someone's really missing a trick.

I still haven't learnt to say NO so here's another piece of styling work. My friend asked me to put a shoot together for a new magazine to be a sister mag to SketchBook. The concept behind it was a pair of bored teenagers hanging round town dressing up in their big sisters clothes to amuse themselves. That's it really. Genius I know but it does the job.

I found a basic cape tutorial on YouTube and then cut my own pattern to make one that resembled the cream on a Christmas pudding. They're pretty basic in shape and I just free styled on the collar adaptation with a few wise words from the madre. Sweet. Jasmin insisted on modelling it. PUT CATS BACK ON THE CAT WALK.

The still is from an up and coming film called Black Swan which is sounding like a feathery dance version of The Secretary, move over Gyllennhaal, Portman is coming through. Rodarte are providing the costumes so I know ghetto smurf Tavi will be super happy, even if Vice aren't! Looks like the perfect amount of corruption and dance to have me hooked, I'm pretty excited. Here's a super crappy screen grab of the Tatty/Penhaligon's shoot....this was from when it went live on the front page of the Tatty site. I didn't have photoshop at the time (Adobe you big shits) and had to make do do with a paste into Word.

After doing this shoot I have decided to leave styling alone for a while, unless more opportunties like this come up of course but no more student help outs, as I want to focus on my own work and styling isn't where I meant to end up! After working with Mo on her end of second year and third year fashion photography projects I have bulit up a good portfolio in styling and it has led onto other projects but I want to go in another direction now. I'm currently researching films to help put my AIP concept into action. I will be working with photographer Sarah Brimley to create a stop motion fashion ident showcasing my own designs and concepts.

I got to go down to the Ziad Ghanem show this Monday at LFW. I was quite drunk by the time it came to movie viewing time but I think it was pretty good. Shame it couldn't be realised in an actual live show but I can see making a film is a good way of getting your concept across if your budget isn't large enough to pull off a McQueen style escapade on the catwalk. The clothes didn't kill it for me though, all was a little samey..........I would like to have seen a little more diversity. BUT the prints were beautifully amazing and the movement within the maxi dresses using giant print was a super good call. I'm still interested seeing Ghanem's new moves.

I think I have been a little harsh. I do actually love it.

I stalked a man on the bus on my way to work the other week to get my mits on this ShortList magazine. My styling work is in print as part of the Beefeater 24 Gin competition feature. Ok so it's not exactly I.D or Dazed but I was so excited to be seen by loads of commuters around London that day! Hopefully got something pretty exciting coming up which will be involving styling and art directing........I'll let you know when it's actually all in motion.

Styling singer/songwriter Rokhsan for some up and coming promo shots. Photographer Sarah Brimley. With thanks to Tatty Devine and Beyond Retro for the lends....yet again. All Saints, sort your press department out.

Spent the day at Sunbeam Studios in London getting some looks together for the lovely Rokhsan. She sings nice songs so go check her out on the link above! Yerr. The day went well apart from running over schedule slightly (hmmmmm 2 and a half hours!) but I think Brimmers was on a roll and didn't wanna stop snapping! This shoot was a bit different to my norms as I am normally dressing the model in accordance to the photographers demands but as these pics were for Rokhsan herself she had more say in what she wanted to wear. So it was important to give her pieces which suited her and what her music represents. Not sure if I completely got it right but we filter through the clothes on offer and came up with some looks. I think she looks awesome! Hope she is pleased with the final looks.

Here's a few behind the scenes pics of the Tatty Devine S/S 11 shoot we did on Monday, I was assisting John the stylist. Obvs can't actually show any pics of the jewellery as it is not coming out until next year and Topshop will be hot on heels of any inside news they can get so they can rip it off (poor Topshop, poor). What exactly is going on with Arcadia at the mo (Evans is a crap excuse for a plus size store, Topshop is boring and Miss Selfridge has an unhealthy obsession with jersey. Come on guys).
Anyways, rant over. The studio we used was in an old church but in the end we shot everything outside in their garden as the photographer preferred the lighting out there. I think there's gonna be a second shoot as still have more pieces to photograph but I dunno if I'll be able to go on that one. We shall seeeeee. That's it. Goodbye. I have period pain.

Here's the final image from the shoot I styled for Sarah Brimley for her Beefeater Gin competition entry. I'm REALLY pleased that Brimmers went for a shot from the earlier line up on the night.......as when more people turned up later the styling started to look messy as the clothes ran out to give out! I think the styling runs really well in this picture.....happy! Thanks to Beyond Retro and Tatty Devine for the lends. EXCELLANTAY. The only thing I'm not keen on is the pointing goth girl's face and massive hand. Otherwise I think everyone looks fab. Yeah I said fab. Good luck Brimmers!!!!! wayyy.

Sooooo.....yesterday I spent the day styling for photographer Sarah Brimley's competition entry for Beefeater Gin at Rocket Bar in Canary Wharf. Which will be featured in the Stylist and....erm, some other magazine I can't remember the name of!

It was all pretty last minute and I was meant to be styling 5 people per hour but we ended up shooting everyone at once so the outfits started to run out as more models turned up but I'm relatively pleased with what I came up with. The girls were easy as I had mainly female clothing (after a root around my own goodies and the Tatty Devine press area followed by a trip to Beyond Retro where the lovely boys and gals hooked me up 19 of their finest pieces!!) but the boys were a little more tricky as the other stylist who was going to clothe the guys couldn't make it so we made the most of we could get our mits on the day! I prefer the outfits in the first pictures when the majority of the photo was female as I think they all came together better as I had less control when another girl (ahem, who was VILE and would not wear anything...definately not a way to win someone over if you want more jobs in the future!) and 4 guys (all with AMAZING moustaches!!) turned up later in the evening as there were not many clothes left to give them. And there's a cardigan and a shirt that were snuck on half way through the shoot which I'm really not into, must be more authoritive next time to not be disappointed with final result!

It was a challenge styling 15 models all at once, especially without having any test shots to go away and work with and improve on....but I'm sure the Sarah will make the final image look fantastic anyway. Also met a couple of models who I would definately like to work in the future. It was definately a good learning curve and has given me a lot to think about for the future. I'll whack the final image up when it's ready for public viewing!

One more thing...BIG thanks to the lovely Helena Nelson for doing a grand job assisting me before she had to go off and strut her stuff on the other side of the camera.

I'm not ready for the McQueen take over. That's it. I'm just not. I know McQueen has said in interviews that he wanted the label to go on if he was to depart the earth as we know it but it's like replacing...well there really is no metaphor for it. Sarah Burton I'm sure you're grand and yes I am in love with red and black strapless resort dress but still, just no. I'm not a fan of change at the best of times and am often won round in the long term but I wouldn't like that to happen as it would be like forgetting. I do feel bad for the girl coz she's never gonna be able to live up to McQueen himself so for the amount of time she is working for Alexander McQueen she will be living in a giants shadow. I commend her for stepping up the biggest challenge in fashion history since I've been alive and she must be madly talented to be given this opportunity so I will be following her creative moves very closely. Burton, you got some bloody big cocoon shaped shoes to fill.

Tatty Devine made this one off piece especially for the Clothes Show London, it was given away in a twitter competition coinsiding with the event......pretty sweet ay?!

Our stall at the Clothes Show........being manned by the lovely Nina (sipping on one of the free Martini's!!)
George Lamb and his Pops happened to get mobbed in front of where I was eating my lunch so I had to get a quick snap in myself!! He must be a stunner if he managed to pull off red kecks and red espadrilles at the the same time!! Good show. Kirsty is super smiley as she has just made a new BFF in the form of Hugo from Come Dine with Me. Chuckles. He was working opposite us on the She stand, they bonded over their swanky up bringings and Tatty Devine jewellery! Liz manning the stand before we swapped all the jewellery for praline filled Kitkats.
And finally, myself looking miserable...excuse the photo, it was the best out of a bad bunch!! So pleased I got to experience the Clothes Show from the other side of the table and all the work that goes into exhibiting there. It was good to chat to the other stall holders and hear about their personal Clothes Show experiences as well, a couple felt it was a lot of work and a lot of money for the actual outcome...I think the Clothes Show Birmingham is probably more worth while in that respect as the venue is so much larger than the London one. Good craic but very tiring!!

Also I am pleased to say that I am going to become a permanent resident at Tatty Towers, looking after their Brick Lane shop on a Saturday and helping Amy in the shop on a Sunday. Very happy that my work experience has lead onto a job with the company as it is a super dooper lovely company!! Happy days.

Schadenfreude revisited....

I've always like the development of possible garment ideas within this project (first year fashion illustration module) but have never used them for anything. We had to develop garment ideas and fashion illustrations from a colour and an emotion, I think the journey of the emotion I chose (schadenfreude) would fit in well with the idea of developing an underwear and lounge wear collection. As I used really bold and oversized pieces which would work well for the lounge wear then going through to near nakedness and underwear pieces to show the vunerable side of the emotion. To be be developed...

These crafty buggers joined forces to bring us these little beauties for Jensen's S/S 09 collection and I have been madly in love with them ever since. If I wore these down the beach it would let everyone else know I'm mental, rather than just keeping it to myself.

So I went to the Maison Martin Margeila exhibtion at Somerset House this weekend (errr, can I just mention the amazing floor water spouting fountains...so jealous of the kids playing in them! be good if they spouted Fanta, especially on a hangover). Anyway, thought I should start a new sentence now, I found this pretty inspiring and very interesting to see the insight into the whole Margeila brand being at a time when I am thinking about ways of branding myself. A theme that stuck out to me was his desire to be unrecognised and remain incognito...this obviously transpired into his work, a main feature of that being that his models have their eyes constantly covered (it's like when the front of the Sun covers a nipple, you can still see the boob...cover the eyes and you can still see the face...why are eyes and nipples so important?).

Anyways, I really liked looking at his advertising and exhibition invitations, they were really fun and it looked like he really just used whatever idea came off the top of his head. Much more fun than a plain old piece of cardboard. I was drawn to the invitation made to look like a school child has drawn it and to go with it his over sized garments as I thought it carries through the kid theme, looking like you're wearing your ma or pa's clothes. I have an obsession with being young but not in the Hollywood sence, in the I loved being a child and the hands on trial and error creativity it brought and when you were free to run around fields allll the time and make dens. I'm not sure how this philosophy will transpire into one that works with underwear design but we'll soon see! Accessories not so much a problem. Maybe I can recreate the shop my cousin Lucy and myself set up in the gap in my Grandma's fence as a child for some kind of personal campaign, we managed to flog a hair band before getting caught.

We weren't allowed to take pics inside, which is a shame as they had an amazing white den with camoflaged white arm chairs and white confetti in the middle of 3 walls of T.V screens playing Margeila footage, but here is one of the caravan(?), advertising where the exhibition is. I like this caravan. Maybe Margeila was sleeping in it, spying on who went to his exhibition. See...mystery gets you thinking....

I was excited to check out the fashion shoots after working on styling a lot of shoots myself over the past year and a half.....these were my favourite pages, loving the clothing and styling in all three pics and I like each individual way the shoot is shot, showing off the different style of the photographer. No really, who is going to make my wedding dress now? I always planned to marry in an Alexander McQueen dress, unfortunately for my Dad's bank balance, this was the only thing that was a must and uncompromisable (is that a word?). These plans have pretty much come to a holt.

Lee Alexander McQueen dies 11th February 2010.

It's pretty much left me as speechless as one of his runway shows. Being obvious that there is not one designer even coming close to being up to scratch to take over his fashion empire just shows what a true individual genius he was. Being a master tailor with a dark fragile creative mind bred for an insanely captivating imaginary tale told in the form of a fashion story. I am in love forever.

In 2003 I was lucky enough to be in his presence attending An Audience with Alexander McQueen which was presented by the Times Style Magazine. Arriving late as I read the time on the ticket wrong I got there just in time. Thinking I was arriving early to get a prime front row seat I ended up one row from the back but sitting in the very back row just a couple of seats to my right was McQueen's pioneer Isabella Blow. Sporting one his past collections hats, a white and red semi circular oversized head piece, she fidgeted around from sitting to standing through out the interview.
The main two main memorable moments about the interview, apart from thinking he was really down to earth, were that when it was time for questions he said 'and don't ask for a job' which gained a laugh from everyone in the room and a story he told earlier in the evening of when he was a child. He talked of when he lived at home with his Mum as child he drew a picture of a fairy or a lady and she left the drawing even though he had defaced the wallpaper...he then went to say 'but I bought her a new house now so it's probably not there anymore' in his cheeky manor.
Another two things he said relating to his work, he went on to talk about how he felt the press never really captured exactly what image he had going on in his mind when it came to work but he said 'they sometimes get it right'. To me this indicates his level of absolute personal perfection he wanted his work to entail, creating the exact image that he was aiming to portray from the thoughts in his mind, bringing his conceptual sensitivity to life. I can't remember the other thing I was going to write right now butI'll get back to you if I remember.

I'm sure Tavi will happily piss on everyone elses blog about McQueen's death by collating a retrospective of every single piece of his work to date (which none the less I will probably enjoy having a read of) but this is my own little insight of thoughts and experiences with the lovely late Lee Alexander McQueen 1969 - 2010. Goodbye to him and his beautiful mind.

Here's a still from the test film below. This is for another collaboration with the Tesey for her project called Imagine. While Tesey photographed Sarah Riding for test shots using the bath, I filmed it. I am also doing the styling for this, the garments in this piece were more just for a quick test to see how different materials worked in the water, I think the Kate Moss oversized floaty lace shirt was the winner, shown above. It goes fairly transparent but maintains the lacey detail and giving a sensitive yet provocative feel.

Ok so these are a couple of outfit ideas from a new styling project I'm working on with Anna Morwenna for her Mr.Benn concept. Here we can see the Mr.Benn character as himself and as a caveman. I'm going to use mainly vintage for this project. Borrowed the vintage blue suit from Gwilym and my Dad's orange Harris Tweed suit is on it's way!! Fresh from the 70's! I'm really pleased with how the photo's look already....thanks to Dan Cansdale for his modelling expertise! Off to try more outfits at Stuart Alexanders vintage shop in Pokesdown next week.....

The Lost Hour....

My Native Manga shoot lead me to think of this programme, Eerie Indiana, I used to watch as a childer, although it gave me the willies and made me feel a bit sick....I must have still watched it, was probably bored.

The titles on this also really reminded me of the content of an Arbus photograph, which is relevent to my current project. I like the idea of a lost hour. What would you do in a lost hour? ANYTHING. A lost hour. A dream. I often confuse reality with dreaming, especially from my childhood. If you could remember or relive just one hour from your past what would it be? Or create something completely new and impossible to achieve in real life?

I think I do prefer them without the illustrations and I have made them slighty less vibrant which I think gives a slighty more eerie feel which I like. I want to get some kind of a website together over Summer to put in my styling work along with my designing work, which I still need to do the shoots for. Eek.

This is a project from my first year of uni which I have never put up.....mainly coz I was going to re-think the illustrations on them as the tutors said they didn't think they went well with the pics and took over too much. BUT I decided I kinda like them, although I am gonna have a mess around when I get some free time and see if I can make an edit I like without the illustrations, which shouldn't be too hard as I like the pics (thanks go to Madame Tese again!!) but they need sorting out and putting in the layout again. This was made aimed towards Amelia's Magazine but as that doesn't exist anymore it seems a bit out of context so if I re-do them I'll probs aim at Lula or something like that. Yup. That's it. Oh and thanks to Tasha Hale for her modelling skills!! Yay!!

I always see random creatures within any random object so I have decided to document my findings and thoughts to create a series called Happy Accidents. Here are some pics from the SHOWStudio exhibition at Somerset House, the day I went Nick Knight was conducting live shoots all through the day of various people in the fashion industry or people related to it. Philip Tracey and Georgia Jaegar were on later that day but I could wait around to see them. Here's some shots from behind the screen of the Paul Smith shoot, he was really lovely and gave us all a wave! Haha. After following ShowStudio's website for quite a while now it was good to see all the projects I have seen throughout the years come together for one big exhibition. Hopefully there'll be another in a few years time with all the new goodies to show off! It was also perfectly full of research for my current uni project, showcasing a lot of interative fashion films. I'm gonna post these onto my project blog though rather than on here. Codbye.

Barbara Hulanicki wallpaper skirt....

Paper skirt made by my good self from Barbara Hulanicki print wallpaper for a photography project by Lauren Riou. Lauren collected a series of garments made from different wallpapers to photograph for a still life project so the final photographs were not taken on a model and hung in mid air. I liked the way this pic shows a bit of movement within the skirt though so I wanted to use this pic. I also like the angles created within the skirt from the stiffness of the paper. Cheerio. Old chap.

Mo has asked me style her FMP which I really would like to do but just not sure I will have the time to dedicate to it as I will be doing my own last project of the year which might be rather hectic!! We'll see. As I do not want to go into styling I do not want to focus on having it all throughout my portfolio so need to crack on with other projects. I am excited but nervous for my new project as making a film is proving pretty tricky when you can't find a fucking camera man!! Argh. But if worse comes to worse i will make a slide show film and that will have to do! Also hope to have a garment from the end of the film so this will be exciting to see if this actually turns out!! Final shoot part one, behind the scenes. Showing Sarah Harrison on hair and make-up, Camilla Kay modelling, Mo Tese photographing and myself styling. Unfortunately we will have to do another shoot, Mo was hoping to get it all shot in this one, but being my silly self I had some of the clothes needed sent to the wrong address in the East of Anglia to my parents house!! Whoopsie. It meant we didn't have to rush through outfits though and try and fit them all in in this shoot which was good as less stressful and could take more time shooting each individual outfit.

Really pleased with how they are looking so far, we decided to take take the styling down a slighty grungier/less prissy look as the photographer didn't feel the overall look was fitting in with her proposed publication. So I have changed outfits around since the test shoot, as it was looking more Lula than Wonderland. Looking forward to seeing final spread, will put pics up when finished.

Memories of a miniture magpie

I'm wondering if I have so many happy memories as being a kid is because I just can't remember the later years coz I've been drunk since I was about 14. Seeing the new couture pimp Gaga advertising one of her customers talents, wearing it rather than putting it on a street corner for all to see, I got that amazing woft of nostalgia. My cousin used to have an outfit for her barbie which was some 80's iridescent body con holes cut out the side mini dress, made out of a plastic kinda material........I loved it and always wanted my Barbie to have it to wear. I remember being semi mesmerized by it everytime I went round and we played Barbies. So seeing this McQueen outfit made me so happy, it instantly reminded me of those times.....and it's head to toe coverage which means optimum iridescent allowence. YESSSSSSSSSS. Oh.My.God. I just want to recreate this in my next 'making' project at uni, nothing else matters. For now. Goodbye, good end to a shitty week....every cloud has a silver lining and this is mine.

River Island project flyer design......baby got back

On a lighter note I made these and I like them. Thanks goes to my lovely housemate and her butt. I think the latter would be a good flyer as it's an image people would remember and maybe get them talking. I also really like the top one, it is quite a bold strong image which conveys the essence of our event with a , so I was told, American apparel/Urban Outfitters type feel to it. Which is good to help the River Island brand step out of it's boring run of the mil type image and get it to be seen in a different light. But when the consumer walks in and see's the clothes, they'll realise it's still shit but at least it got them in the store and they might find an unsuspected gem.

So we're meant to reflect on our River Island event project presentations. What can I say. Ours was the crappest of the whole groups and not just by a whisker. Is there any communication between the tutors on this course? (Do you love how I instantly blame someone else, I have noticed this an occuring trate of mine). After asking Gail (visiting tutor for this module?) if we needed to speak over it she said it should be self explanatory, presumingly so if sent River Island they would undertand it, and that we didn't need to speak over it. Yet when we say this at the beginning of our power point presentation we were confronted with a patronising semi gasp of breath or maybe an eye roll from our other tutor Tammy, which spelt out in two seconds that we should have planned a speech to accompany it. So we were made to start the film again and talk through it with no preparation and got looked at like we didn't have a clue about our event as we bumbled some words together when we actually have a very good understanding of all aspects. It could have all easily been talked through had we known we were meant to. I've vowed never to cry at uni over work coz I hate little bitches who cry coz they've messed up and hope through their pathetic display of tears that someone will make things better for them. But I did want to cry. So you can imagine my frustration, felt like all our hard work and planning had just gone down the poop shoot.

What did I learn? I can't really talk about what I learnt from our own presentation right now, I'm not sure I'm thinking clearly. From others peoples....speak clearly and in an engaging manor (some peoples voices are just so uninteresting, not saying mine isn't) or the viewer loses interest, have a clear thought out plan of what exactly or round about what you are going to say, don't bombared the viewer with loads of info (summarise briefly, don't repeat yourself, get to the point), visual pass-rounds are OK but distract from the presentation (this maybe my loose attention span), don't use electric blue type face against a black back ground, errrr, yeah, that's it. Oh and maybe get pills from doctor to not shake.

Testing garments and lighting................

The prints on these two pieces fit in great as they resemble the print on the moths wings. I like the skirt tucked in so you can see the pattern well on the skirt, you only get a wee glimpse otherwise!
I love all these colours together and the different textures work well together, lace, mesh, feathers and leather!
I really like the shape of the black tassel waistcoat but I prefer the block colour of the previous outfit, although this may help tie the dark and the lighter outfits together throughout the whole shoot. I would like to try both again on the actual shoot and then let Mo decide which suits the overall spread best when all images are together.
Again, the textures on this work well, sequins, lace, leather and metal. I would like try it with a white leather jewelled vintage vintage belt I have or an oversized white necklace.
This one I am not madly keen on, I like the way all the lines are going towards the floor inline with one another but I think the outfit is a little dull, maybe try with printed/textured tights and it might add something to it.
I really like the shape here, would like to keep bare top and add rodarte style tights and black shoe boots instead of the grey.
Love this piece, unfortunately this pic doesn't show it off to it's best as it is a bit light. Would like to keep this this outfit simple with just the shoes and zip dress as there's a lot going on within the dress and gives a bold block of texture, yet with the loose over-sized baggy fit and the longer length allows for a vunerable feel.

Here's the first test shoot with everyone on set. Hair, make-up, clothing and the photographer!! Mo the photographer was testing her lighting so I tested outfits out, seeing which pieces worked together well, this then allowing me to see exactly what we need to get for actual shoot and what we are missing. Also allowing me to see how the garments looked in front of the camera and if they worked well in this context as well. Shoes and accessories are definately needed, didn't bring any to this shoot, except the one pair of Topshop shoe boots.

I'm happy with 5 of the outfits we tested for definate and we were left with a few maybe's. I have written a list of all the other outfits will be getting and a list of accessories and shoes which will be needed. Have to check our budget!! Eek.

Currently working on a styling a fashion shoot for Mo Tese's 3rd year project. Mo has beased her project on moths and has given me shapes and colours which she wants to work with. Using muted colours, beige, white, brown, cream and black with various textures using layering. Some silouettes will be bold, taking on the shape of the moths wings in different positions whereas others will focus more on the misture of textures. Poses will involve a vunerable shy cocoon transforming into a bold moth, the pics may get mixed up though when deciding on final spread anway so this is just a loose idea to help decide on outfits. These drawings are just some quick initial ideas, some which I have chosen and others which Mo has talked me through exactly what she would like, now it's my job to realise these in actual garments!

Yes my dress is super creased! I hijacked Mo's test shoot (for her project which I am styling) and got a few quick pics of my first year garments. I wanted to see how they photographed and wanted to try out a couple of models. For the actual shoot I want to use Davinia for the grey skirt with top and Tasha for the dress, as I think they fit these individual pieces better so showing garments off to their full potencial.

The actual shoot will be on location, just a quick shoot (hopefully!) around where I live. I'm going to pitch it kinda as alternative office wear but that sounds cheesy and rank so I need to come up with a better name!

Davinia went first so didn't have a chance to do hair and make-up, whereas Tasha did have time. Mo found the make-up artist from the course run at AUCB, I really like her work, especially the hair so I am planning on asking her to work my shoot for me as well.

Bravo to Mucky (this is my pet name for Alexander MuckChickenNuggetQueen) once again......you've combined Christmas and Easter. It looks like the shape of an easter egg but has the sparkles and jazz of Christmas. Definately makes me hungry. You know those cocoons which a beautiful butterfly imerges from, well these shoes are like are beautiful cocoons which means the feet inside these must be magically amazingly beautiful feet. In the grim reality they're probably bloodied and blistered to fuck. And probably a few of her toes are crippled. But as the shoes are so perfect I like to imagine a perfect magical engineered platform inside which looks after your feet, maybe with trap doors and stairs. I think a cross section of this shoe would be a fairytale experience where little people live...........this shoe is their planet and ten pairs makes a universe.

I'm too tired to write much. Ok, so while I was ill I had the same view from my bed for a good few days, when I looked over to one side I saw my new Lion friend but he only stayed for about a minute and a half. Formed from my scrumpled up Virgin Mary piece and a beam of light, I'm so happy we got to meet. I always see things like but never manage to get a pic so I'm gonna make more of an effort to do so in the future as this made me happy to have a snap of my sneaky Lion friend. Can you see him? Very bold and proud, kinda opposite to the the Virgin Mary whose persona leads me to believe she is timid and retiring.

Virgin Mary

So the picture of Gaga which I came across in the Sunday times Style mag reminded me of my Virgin Mary project. I really like this image, it's bold and controversial. As if Gaga's a virgin, this point emphasised by this little slutty red lace number. This was the main basis behind my project, that the virgin Mary is not actually a virgin because it is not scientifically possible. I'm a realist, what can I say. It's a project I would definately like to re-visit at some point as it's never really come to a head. This garment is just a section from a design, which has now been worked on and developed into something rather different. It's made from panels which I knitted but as I said I in an earlier post I have broken my Ma's knitting machine so that's the end of that piece for a while. Maybe a massive metal file would do the trick on her machine? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I like to fix things.

PDP notes

Ok so I couldn't really get excited about doing this task. Observing vids about people talking about PDP. Hmmm. I tried. I understand what they're trying to say but I feel like I know what they're saying already and I feel I already do a lot of the things they're saying as well. I know I need to write everything down, no matter how small, as I have a brain the size of a pea but I do this as best I can already. Granted I usually scribble things on tiny scraps of paper and then lose the piece of paper. I have bought a diary so now hopefully I'll use that, bit doubtful but wishful thinking.

I don't like writing big chunks of writing coz personally I don't like to read big chunks of writing because I have a low to minimal attention span and nothing much interests me in large quantities. I respond much better to visuals, probably why I'm doing a creative degree rather than some wanky writing all the time type degree. As I've got older I have even given up pretending to be interested when people tell me uninteresting things and will happily walk off during mid sentence. I realise this makes me look rather rude but people are boring.

While knowing of things I already need improve on I'm sure many more things will become apparant as I continue to learn new things. First things I'm going to work on are mainly my time management and actually attending classes. I'm really not into large groups of people which makes classes challenging but I guess I'm paying like a million bucks for this course so I better go as much as I can. If I manage my time better it will allow me to push my ideas further and research further into them and support my ideas from as much gathered info as possible. Goodbye.

Chalayan at the Design Museum

So these were taken way back in the Summer and when I still had a super crap camera, well actually it was my friend Karens super crap camera on loan since something bad happened to mine, like mice thought it was cheese and carried it off through their little 'n' shaped door in the skirting board into their little home, realising it was way too hard to actually be cheese (Uncle Monty mouse now has a fake front gold tooth) they use it to sit on and pretend to ride a military tank, coz the zoom made a wicked gun.

Anyway, the Hussein Chalayan exhibition did not disappoint, when I saw the video reel at the end with his moving clothes on (which I'd never actually seen properly in their moving element) I nearly shat myself with happiness and realised I will never be as innovitive or as an amazing designer as him and that I may as well give up now and go work in WHSmiths. But (I know you shouldn't start sentences with but) I decided to forget this idea and give something else a bash first. I would have put more pics up but the quality was so low it really wasn't worth it.
